Each year our researchers participated in Summer Schools where they would come together for a programme of themed events and activities. Here are two examples of those Summer Schools: 2017, which gave this CDT the opportunity to invite other 9 CDTs in the UK, members of the Digital Economy Network; and 2016, a social enterprise exercise that we undertook with the RNBI.

Summer School 2017: Innovation Insights for the Digital Workforce of Tomorrow (follow the link)

Held in collaboration with the Digital Economy CDT Network, 150+ PhD researchers attended a series of seminars, workshop and practicals aimed to encourage development of new skills, new partnerships and new ideas. Find the programme here.

Summer School 2016: Social entrepreneurship challenge in partnership with RNIB (follow the link)

CDT-EI researchers were set the task of developing an ‘embedded intelligence’ aid for the visually impaired, in partnership with Royal National Institute for Blind People (RNIB) college Loughborough. The overriding theme of social responsibility and entrepreneurship was apparent in the teams wishing to capitalise on their own research, knowledge and experience to make a real difference in people’s lives.
